Nursery 30 hours

30 Hour Nursery Provision at Monkhouse Primary School

From September 2017 working families with children aged 3 / 4 years have been eligible for 30 ‘free’ hours of early education and childcare.

From September 2018, Monkhouse Primary School are delighted to be offering this service directly from our school. If you are eligible and school is able to accommodate parental requests for the additional 15 hours, you will bring your child to school in the morning as usual for 8.45. The lunchtime wraparound care costs £4 per day and children will have to bring a packed lunch. Afternoon sessions run from 12.30 until 3.30, although parents can collect children from 3.20 onward.

Every year, we have consulted with our families on the best way to organise the 30 hour offer and this year they chose to have a 45 minute between the two sessions. This fitted better with sibling sessions in main school and followed a school routine. Wrap-around care is provided by Rise and Shine Playgroup, who collect the children at the end of morning nursery, and bring them back to our setting for afternoon session.

Families are eligible for 30 ‘free’ hours if:

• both parents are working (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family);

• each parent has a weekly minimum income equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage or living wage; and

• neither parent has an income of more than £100,000 per year.

The government have provided a childcare calculator which will check your eligibility to the 30 hours Childcare Offer at www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator

Parents can also find out information at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

Eligible parents will be given a code which must be passed on to the provider of the 30 ‘free’ hours in order that this is validated. Eligibility for the 30 hours must be checked every three months.
