Welcome to Monkhouse Primary School!

It is my privilege to be the Head Teacher of a school I truly love. Having taught here for many years, I know first-hand what a special community we have, and I am beyond excited to welcome you and your family to it.

My ethos for Monkhouse is simple: I want our school to be a vibrant, happy place where every child feels safe, valued, and excited to come to school each day. We are incredibly proud of our exceptional academic results, but I fiercely believe that these achievements must never come at the expense of happy children. Our priority is always developing the whole child. We strive to provide a world-class education tailored to our local area, treating every child as an individual and caring for them just as we would our own. This is woven through our curriculum, that we aim to bring to life in many ways.

Monkhouse Primary School

Year 6 had a fantastic day out at the Discovery Museum last week! The children enjoyed learning all about Newcastle's shipyards and the important impact they have had on our local area. They even became shipbuilders themselves, creating their own model ships and testing whether they would float and how much weight they could carry! We also had our lunch alongside the Turbinia, the fastest ship of its time, and carried out our own investigation to see whether it really was as big as our whole class! As always, we were incredibly proud of Year 6. They represented our school brilliantly, showed fantastic enthusiasm for their learning and were a pleasure to take out.
