Our Curriculum

The EYFS Curriculum

At Monkhouse we offer a bespoke curriculum, which meets the requirements of the 2021 Statutory Framework.  The care of children and our teaching and learning is carefully planned to match the requirements of this framework, and to ensure that we provide the best learning opportunities for all our children.  Our curriculum is built around learning projects, with core texts and language development at its heart. We are excited to learn together, and nurture that Characteristics of Effective Learning, as we recognise how vital these are in ensuring our children become life-long learners.

We want all our children to be ambitious, courageous, resilient, respectful and kind, and work hard to teach and promote these school values.

Our Projects

‘Each term, children right across school embark on a new and exciting project. Our projects are designed to be immersive - to really engage and excite children, inspiring them to become actively involved in their learning.

We like to launch each new project with a bit of a bang, so we don’t want to give too much away.  However, you may find that across the year we have story-characters contacting us to ask for help or, at other times, story-book baddies may cause havoc in our setting, leading to all sorts of trouble and, hence, lots of problem-solving.  Every day is an adventure!’
