Dear Parents, Carers and Visitors to our School 

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. Monkhouse Primary is a warm and friendly school where children, parents, and staff work together as part of a supportive and happy learning community. We strive to ensure that every child, no matter when they join us, receives a warm welcome and makes an excellent start to their educational journey.

My name is Laura Baggett, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be the Headteacher of such a fantastic school. It’s a job I truly love, and I am proud to lead a school where we have high expectations for all our children. At Monkhouse, we recognise that every child is unique and has something special to offer. We are committed to supporting each child to reach their full potential.

The staff at Monkhouse are dedicated, passionate, and highly experienced. Together, we create a calm, caring atmosphere that fosters a strong work ethic while ensuring learning is enjoyable and engaging. We expect great things from our pupils, and they always rise to the challenge. Our pupils take pride in their learning, and we are always impressed by their enthusiasm, creativity, and determination.

We are proud to have a positive and strong partnership with our parents and local community. Our Parent & Friends Association is active and incredibly supportive, and we also benefit from the money we raise through a range of activities over the year.  We are also fortunate to have a committed Governing Body who work closely with us to help steer the school towards continuous improvement.

At Monkhouse, we believe in the power of collaboration and recognise the vital role parents play in their child’s education. We are always keen to hear your views and appreciate your support in helping make your child’s time here positive and enjoyable. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I am always happy to meet with parents, and if I am unavailable, my team and I will ensure your concerns are addressed.

We believe in building a school where every member of the community is treated with respect and kindness. Our five core values — ambitious, courageous, resilient, respectful, and kind — underpin everything we do. We actively encourage pupils to embody these values, both in their learning and in their interactions with others. This is reflected in the wide range of leadership opportunities available to our pupils, from being Eco Warriors to Play Leaders, Office Assistants, and members of the Pupil Leadership Team.
