School Trips and Visits
At our school, we value the learning opportunities that school trips and visits provide. For immediate local visits that require no transport other than walking, we already have your permission and will simply inform you when these take place. Any other class visits that require transport will always need separate parental consent. All trips and visits are carefully planned, with detailed risk assessments in place to ensure the safety of all children. We rely on parental support to help maintain appropriate adult-to-child ratios and are very grateful for this assistance. When parents accompany children on trips, we always provide clear expectations and a code of conduct to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Year Five Space Camp: A Journey Beyond the Stars!
In June, Year Five pupils embarked on an out-of-this-world adventure as our school hall transformed into a Space Camp for a very special overnight stay. Tents were pitched indoors, sleeping bags rolled out, and the excitement was truly astronomical!
Throughout the evening, pupils immersed themselves in a galaxy of space-themed activities. We explored the phases of the moon using Oreo cookies (and maybe snuck a few bites!), engineered and launched our own rockets, and got creative by designing and crafting flying saucers. Using iPads, we explored the night sky, identifying stars and constellations.
No camp would be complete without delicious food, and ours was no exception. We enjoyed a pizza dinner and later gathered around a (safe) fire to make classic marshmallow s’mores. The next morning, a hearty breakfast of cereal and toast gave us the energy we needed to reflect on our incredible experience.
To wrap it all up, we invited parents to a special assembly where pupils proudly shared everything they had learned and created. It was a truly memorable night full of fun, learning, and teamwork—and one giant leap for Year Five!
