What is the Northumbria University BA Hons?

The BA (Hons) Primary Education programme is designed to equip student teachers with the skills necessary to become an outstanding primary teacher in due course. Over the three years of their programme, students gradually gain the knowledge, confidence and skills to equip them for

Teaching; the programme placements are designed to enable students to gradually develop teaching skills and confidence.  

In their first year, students engage with a two-day-a-week teaching placement,  designed to allow the student to gain an understanding of teaching across all key stages and to allow them to make an informed decision about whether to specialise in the 3-7 or 7-11 age-phase during the second and third years of their programme. 

Following on from this initial year, the students will then carry out a series of placements across all phases, building up to teaching for sustained periods of time. 

At Monkhouse, we have trained many outstanding trainee teachers, some of whom currently work in Monkhouse and others who have all moved on to exciting teaching careers.
