Residential Visits

Year 5&6 Visit Normandy in June
Every two years, Monkhouse Primary School take part in a residential visit to Normandy in France with Hazelwood Primary School in Wideopen. This started in June 2018 and we are looking forward to our next visit in June 2020.

We stay in Normandie à la Carte’s gîte, La Grand’ Ferme, is situated in the village of Le Fougeray, between Granville and Avranches and just 2km from the coast. The main house and barn were built around 1780 out of stone from an abbey destroyed during the Revolution.

La Grand Ferme is an hour away from St Malo and 1 1/2 hours from the ferry ports of Cherbourg and Caen.

The centre comprises two self-contained accommodations each with its own playing field, dining room and teacher’s area.The centre also has a games room for evening events, a large conservatory and extensive grounds. The main house accommodates school groups of up to 45 pupils and 5 teachers and the new gites can accommodate groups of up to 35 pupils and 3 teachers.

Year 4&5 Visit Robinwood in November
Every year, Year 4&5 have the opportunity to visit Robinwood Outdoor Education Centre. This is a popular visit as the children engage in outdoor and adventurous activities.
