Our aim at Monkhouse is for all pupils leaving school to be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

We teach PE through a games based approach. This allows children to apply skills in competitive small sided match scenarios that promote maximum participation. We encourage creativity in our dance and gymnastics sessions.

P.E. is undertaken throughout the school and is an important activity, leading towards good physical co-ordination and agile movement.

During this last year, our pupils have thoroughly enjoyed participating in sporting events with other local schools. A selection of our recent activities includes:

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils enjoyed fantastic success at the indoor athletics competition. We had many individual winners and won the event overall as a school team.

The school football team are currently undefeated in the league and are top of the table.

Our Year 2 and 3 pupils had a wonderful time recently at the Dance Festival.

The children at Monkhouse always demonstrate tremendous passion, determination, teamwork and respect in all of their sporting endeavours.

We are extremely lucky to work with Active Kids who have organised for us to have an Olympian or Paralympian visit our school every year. Visiting us so far were: Chris Tomlinson, Nathan French and Gemma Collis. See below for some photographs of us being put through our paces!
