Nursery 30 hours

30 Hour Nursery Provision at Monkhouse Primary School

From September 2017 working families with children aged 3 / 4 years have been eligible for 30 ‘free’ hours of early education and childcare.

Monkhouse Primary School are able to accommodate the additional 15 hours free government funded childcare (this is known as the 30 hour offer). As a school, we are only able to offer this on a 1:8 adult to child ratio. Where more than 8 places are requested on any day, the over subscription to nursery criteria will be applied. Where the number of new places requested exceed 8 on specific days, the school will establish a waiting list for these requests and will inform parents if they can be accommodated. Once a place is offered, this place is secured for the days and times agreed for the academic year unless, at a later date, parents do not meet the eligibility criteria. An increase of days and times from an initial offer will be treated as a new application. Due to staffing ratios, we may be unable to offer places to children if the numbers exceed those ratio’s that have planned and costed staffing.

If you are eligible and school is able to accommodate parental requests for the additional 15 hours, you will bring your child to school in the morning as usual for 8.45. Afternoon sessions run from 12.30 until 3.30, although parents can collect children from 3.20 onwards.  Wrap-around care is provided by Rise and Shine Playgroup, who collect the children at the end of morning nursery, and bring them back to our setting for afternoon session.  This lunchtime wraparound care costs £4 per day and children will have to bring a packed lunch.

We have close working relationships with our Rise and Shine colleagues.

You are eligible for the additional 15 hours of funded afternoon nursery care if:

 • both parents are working (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family);

 • each parent has a weekly minimum income equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage or living wage; and

 • neither parent has an income of more than £100,000 per year.

 The government have provided a childcare calculator which will check your eligibility to the 30 hours Childcare Offer at
