Autumn Term 1

This half term we are considering the question ‘what is the magic of me?’ and will be exploring what each individual child looks like and also what makes each and every child special and unique. We will also be looking at our families and in doing so, consider relatives both close to home and within the wider world. During our first project we will be; drawing high quality self portraits, creating individual family trees, learning about our body and our senses and developing an understanding of what is the same and what is different between others and ourselves. We are looking forward to showcasing our first half term of learning with our families at the end of project celebration!

The children have all settled in brilliantly to reception class and have made lots of new friends. We have had a busy first half term and have learnt lots of new things in our project 'what is the magic of me?' This included, drawing some amazing self portraits, discussing and writing about our individual families, considering the similarities between ourselves and others and also exploring how birthdays are celebrated both within the UK and around the world.

In October, we welcomed parents and carers to showcase our learning during our first half term. As a result, the children enjoyed sharing their learning journeys and even performed an overview of their learning, using actions and words, titled "same, same but different". We are excited for the next half term, to see what it brings!
